Electronic Evidence : Rising need of Data Protection during Work From Home
Data Storage Companies need to have a roadmap.
Work From Home has given rise to the prolific usage of electronic devices. These
devices generate huge data. This data may be required any time to be produced as
evidence in case of data breach/compromise.
There is a sudden increase in Work from Home. Like two sides of the same coin, it is
creating problems as well as opportunities. On the one hand, ISPs are under
tremendous pressure of bandwidth management, increased by virtual private networks
(VPNs) usage. On the other hand, vendors are offering Software for free in this WFM
time to increase their footprints till the normality returns.
Data Protection Strategies need tweaking when it comes to Working from home. It is
crucial to prevent data breaches. WFH poses different risks than working in office
environment. It creates new ways of accessing confidential data and certainly there is
greater risk of Data Breaches. There are difficulties in finding “how” and “when”, once
data is comprised.
Organisations have a legal responsibility and obligation to comply with the guidelines
and procedures that business demands, forcing them to address vulnerabilities on
their networks and keep assessing the data storage for privacy.
Amid Covid-19, lockdown is compelling people to Work from Anywhere. Now, there
will be a vast necessity to protect Enterprise Applications along with databases and
email servers. So, would be an emerging need of data protection solutions.
