Cybercrime conviction in Fake Patanjali Website matter

FIR was Registered under S66D of the IT Act,2000 & S420of IPC

4. Name of Accused - Vikas Kumar, r/o Nalanda, Bihar.

5. Facts of the case - Accused in the said case hadallegedly offered Distributorship through a fake website of Patanjali andthereby duped the Complainant to the tune of Rs. 3 Lacs.

Technical Investigation of the said crime was undertaken byPI Pawar and the Accused was arrested from Patna, Bihar.

Proceedings of the said case were conducted before the Courtof Chief Magistrate, Ahmednagar .

Section 66C of the IT Act,2000 :

Punishment for identity theft.- Whoever,fraudulently or dishonestly make use of the electronic signature, password or anyother unique identification feature of any other person, shall be punished withimprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three yearsand shall also be liable to fine.
